There are no two identical devices - just like - there are no two users speaking at the same volume level. This can cause issues especially in larger fleets, where multiple users communicate simultaneously via transceivers. Some speak more softly, while others speak louder. Additionally, the devices may have different microphone sensitivities set. When someone speaks in a distorted, strong volume, and then another person whispers into the radio or speaks through an audio accessory, the user has to constantly adjust the volume up and down. Automatic receive volume control can help with this, as there's no need to adjust the device's volume for each transmission. Once the license is activated, the transceiver will automatically set the volume of incoming transmissions. Consequently, the receiving stations will almost always sound at the same volume on the radio.
