Motorola MOTOTRBO Ion is a high-tech business communication device with data and multimedia capabilities on Android platform.

The Motorola ION smart transceiver works on the DMR UHF standard, Wi-Fi, 4G/LTE and private broadband networks. The Motorola ION is designed as a complex, multifunctional device, so it can perform multiple tasks. For example, it supports two-way radio communication, ticketing, scanning and collaboration, boosting productivity, especially in industries such as manufacturing, transport, logistics and hospitality where work is mobile. The name "I('m) ON", meaning "I'm always available", comes from this versatility.

Access critical voice calls and instant broadband data on a rugged device connected to your private or public data network. It combines familiar push-to-talk (PTT) two-way communication, open app usage on the Android platform and access to Motorola Solutions' unified technology ecosystem; from video security and analytics solutions to best-in-class network security and new software like intelligent virtual assistants. With Motorola ION, teams can communicate simultaneously either over the internet (by purchasing a Wave license) or on the DMR UHF frequency. Internet-based communication provides unlimited range to users regardless of their location. But you can also easily integrate ION devices into your existing DMR system, as the device can operate in the UHF 400-527 MHz frequency range.

APPS ARE ON

Full multimedia capabilities on an Android platform with an open application ecosystem. The intuitive touchscreen lets you view high-resolution images, and the built-in camera lets you send photos and videos - even stream them.

The Motorola ION radio is designed to be reliable and easy to use in any environment. Ultra-strong materials, including a tough touch screen, provide outstanding shock resistance inside and out. It is IP68 rated, fully dustproof and protected against submersion in water up to 2 metres deep for up to 2 hours.  The Ion Gorilla Glass touchscreen is inherently tough, giving it excellent shock resistance. The ION's unique support frame provides additional cushioning for the display and internal components, providing excellent shock absorption. The transceiver is also intrinsically safe, so it can be used in hazardous locations without the risk of ignition or fire.

CONNECTIVITY IS ON

It is designed to keep staff connected everywhere. Seamlessly communicate voice and data over public and private networks. ION's Voice Transfer feature automatically switches to broadband when you're out of range, so the connection is always available, never dropped!

ViQi

ViQi allows you to manage your radio and perform information lookups using voice commands. This feature is purpose-built for better communication and is active when you press and hold the assigned programmable feature button on the radio.

SmartProgramming

Motorola’s SmartProgramming service enables radio programming and updates over LTE broadband connection while the radios are in use.

Firmware

Seamless updates of firmware (full and differential), radio configuration and security updates are scheduled by the radio system administrator and the radio user is given a choice to install immediately or delay for later.

Long Term Evolution (LTE)

Motorola ION enables broadband data capabilities and instant PTT voice over your LTE network of choice.

DMR (MOTOTRBO)

ION is fully interoperable with your existing MOTOTRBO and other Tier III DMR systems for instant PTT voice and data, and MOTOTRBO system licenses are included with your Ion device.

Location

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) integrates information from the Global Positioning System (GPS) and the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) to determine the approximate geographical location of your radio. You can use Indoor Location to keep track of the location of radio users. Dedicated beacons are used to locate the radio and determine its position when indoors.

Advanced Noise Suppression

The Motorola ION features dual microphones which have the noise cancelling feature for clearer audio in high-noise environments.

Wind Noise Suppressor

The radio automatically switches to Speaker-As-Mic (SAM) when talking in windy environments for improved transmit audio intelligibility.

Automatic Acoustic Feedback Suppressor

The built in Automatic Acoustic Feedback Suppressor activates when two radios get in proximity with each other without compromising the audio quality.

Seamless Voice Handover

You can seamlessly communicate through voice and data, over public and private networks. Seamless Voice Handover automatically switches you to broadband when you roam beyond your radio system coverage, so your connectivity is always on when you need it.

Can be used with gloves

Motorola ION's 4-inch main display can be used with gloves up to 4 mm thick and is resistant to malfunction caused by fresh or salt water, snow, dirt or grease.
