Three extra features for Caltta transceivers

SFR (Simplex Frequency Repeater) - Switch to repeater mode!

SFR is a DMR mode feature that can be optionally enabled in second generation Caltta devices. The idea is that one of the radios operating on the same frequency will function as a repeater in SFR mode. In Tier I, it receives DMR audio and data traffic, and in Tier II, it transmits it to the other radios at 90ms intervals. Currently, the second generation Caltta PH690 and PM790 DMR transceivers are capable of this function. It is important to note that once the SFR function is activated, our transceivers can still be used as client radios. So you can still use it as a full-fledged transceiver in SFR mode.

Why is the SFR function useful?

The SFR function allows you to increase the range without installing a normal duplex (dual frequency) repeater. Of course, this is not a replacement for a professional repeater, but it can cover a larger area if you are far apart from your colleagues. It could be useful, for example, if you are travelling in a convoy of vehicles and the SFR radio is in the middle of the convoy. Or if the SFR radio is at an elevated point.

Do I need special permission to use the SFR function?

No, because the frequency licence is already active on the device. Of course, be aware of shared use channels in more densely populated areas that may cause interference.

Compatibility

Devices programmed for Caltta SFR repeater mode can also work with Caltta's own devices and any DMR transceiver. Currently, only the Caltta PH690 v2 and PM790 are capable of frequency transfer, i.e. SFR licensing. Caltta”s PH600 and PH660 models can only be used as client radios and cannot themselves be used as repeaters.

Other brands may have different SFR settings or operation, so please contact Anico Ltd. technicians for testing before purchase.

DMO GPS - Show me where you are!

Simplex, or DMO, mode allows users to share their GPS position with each other. This information is displayed on the screen of the transceivers. The feature can be enabled on both the Caltta PM790, PH660 and PH690. However, this feature only works during DMR transmission, no GPS data transmission is possible in analogue mode.

Important! This function is specific to these Caltta devices only. It is not compatible with radios from other manufacturers.

How does it work?

It is extremely simple to operate. When GPS is active on the radio, you can see the GPS data of the transmitter on the screen of the receivers. You can see not only the GPS coordinates, but also the direction and distance in meters. This data can be shared within a range of 3500 meters and can be configured using the CPS program. You can also set the time when the position data is displayed.

This function can be particularly useful in locations remote from civilian infrastructure, and can therefore be used by research and rescue teams as an example.

Call Record - Voice recording at its best!

There is little customer demand for this feature, but it can be useful when archiving or recording communications is required.

The radios are capable of three recording methods:

1. Recording analogue voice traffic

2. Recording DMR voice traffic

3. Live record function: when this is switched on, the radio records all sounds in its proximity, like a voice recorder. When the audio is turned on, the recording is inactive.

How much can be recorded?

You can request two types of speech recording for the PH series handheld transmitters, but only one for the PM790 mobile transmitter.

The first option records up to 20 hours of audio to the radio's own memory (PH handheld series only), and the second option records up to 200 hours of recordings to a special Caltta SD card (PH and PM series).

It is important to note that if the memory fills up, the oldest recording will be automatically erased. Recordings can be exported to Wave format and saved to a PC using the Audio record CPS program.
